Is water soluble CBD Oil actually better?

One of the latest trends in the CBD industry is water soluble CBD oil.

Many companies are making bold claims, such as 100% bio-availability. But frankly there just isn’t enough science to back that claim up. There isn’t a single health supplement company in the world claiming 100% bio-availability for their products.

Water soluble products do offer more bio-availability, but exactly how much lacks research, and most of the research that exists is done by specific CBD companies, not third parties.

Hemp Daddy’s makes no specific claim about our Water Soluble product, but given that our bodies are 50-60% water, it makes a lot of sense that water soluble CBD would absorb better than a strictly oil based CBD.

How Water Soluble CBD works

Hemp Daddy’s product works through a process called liposomic transfer.

Liposomic transfer occurs when spherical structures that are either man made, or available in nature, which have a water attractive (hydrophilic) outer layer and an inner cavity that are filled with the cannabinoid molecules hidden inside them, which are then able to pass more easily into the bloodstream (source).

Hemp Daddy’s uses an Organic Arabic Gum to encapsulate our CBD oil (this is our spherical structure). This allows it to dissolved into your favorite beverage, and offers more absorption into the blood stream.

The process is also known as micro-encapsulation and has been used by the pharmaceutical industry for years to increase the bio-availability of their drugs.

This also means, you might need less of our water soluble product to achieve the same results as you get with our tincture oils or capsules.

The science behind the magic

CBD isn’t much different than any pharmaceutical drug in that it does not have 100% bio-availability.

The actual amount of CBD that gets into your system is relatively small compared to how much is actually ingested. This is partly why everybody reacts differently to CBD. We all metabolize it differently.

When CBD is consumed orally (think capsules and edibles) the concentration of the compound is greatly reduced before it reaches systemic circulation, which is why taking CBD sublingually (holding under the tongue for 30 seconds or more) or smoking raw flower yields greater benefits.

Water soluble CBD on the other hand can overcome this metabolism issue. This goes directly back to our bodies being 50-60% water.

When you consume water soluble CBD you are putting the CBD oil directly into your system through your small intestine. Thus why you get faster absorption and higher bioavailability.

So is Water Soluble CBD really better?

The answer is, it depends!

I can attest from personal experience, both from myself and family members that consuming a water soluble product yields better results.

Most people notice the effects much quicker than when taken sublingually, and they are MORE noticeable. I actually feel more relaxed when I consume water soluble CBD vs. a standard tincture or capsule.

Just like any CBD product, everybody will react differently, so it’s important to test things out for yourself.

Some Definite Benefits of Water Soluble CBD

1. It’s great for putting into your morning coffee or smoothie
2. You may need to take LESS CBD since bioavailability is higher
3. If you are an athlete it’s great to put in your water bottle during a workout or taking on a long run or ride.

There is ONE drawback to water soluble CBD though. It does require refrigeration. It’s not essential to ensure shelf life, but helps the CBD remain encapsulated in the arabic gum, but if you forget to place it in the fridge when you first receive it, don’t worry. Just shake the bottle up and place back into the refrigerator.

In Conclusion

Water Soluble CBD is a great alliterative to taking CBD sublingually or through capsule format. It provides more bioavailability, but how much is debatable since there isn’t a lot of science to back it up yet. But anecdotal evidence definitely supports its effectiveness.
