Everybody is different when it comes to how much CBD oil you should take. But the general rule of thumb is, “start low and work up slow.”

Begin by taking about 5mg of CBD per day at night before you go to bed. After a few days work up to a 10mg dose, wait a few more days and continue to increase the dose until desired results are achieved.

You might also experiment with the time of day you take your CBD. I generally recommend taking a morning and evening dose. So, if you are taking 30mg of CBD per day. You would take a 15mg dose at night, and a 15mg dose in the morning.

As far as, “how long does it take for CBD oil to work.” That also depends on the person. For some people results are immediate. For others it can take up to 30-45 days for the CBD to really build up in your system and achieve maximum results.

Athlete Specific CBD Tips

When it comes to dosing CBD oil for athletes, more than likely you are going to want a higher dose than the general public. Especially if you are working out 5-7 days per week, or have chronic injuries.

I consider a 20mg daily dose to be the baseline dose for any athlete. But many of us will need more. However, don’t take more than you need to. Listen to your body. Once you see results, you can use that as your standard dose.

After long or hard workouts, it can help to take an extra dose of CBD to help battle the extra inflammation.

I’ve talked to some athletes that benefit greatly from CBD on race day. It calms their nerves and takes away from the race day jitters.

CBD can also help you with focus during a long workout, and also battle pain and inflammation during long endurance events. I usually recommend higher doses than normal during competition to help fight those inflamed joints and muscles.

You might also try an anti-inflammation cocktail. Mix CBD with your favorite ant-inflammatory, such as Omega-3’s and Turmeric. Our Water Soluble is also a great addition to your post-workout recovery smoothie.

Additionally you might try alternative products, like our transdermal cream. Many athletes actually prefer this over the oil. Especially when it comes to dealing with soreness or chronic injuries.
